After actor the late Ahn Sung-ki passed away, his wife Oh So-young expressed her feelings.
In a recent phone interview with a media outlet, Oh So-young said, "After sending my husband off, I was so out of it that I thought of people I wasn't able to thank. I am very grateful that so many people saw him off to the end."
Oh So-young said, "I was moved that many juniors spoke about the good memories they had with my husband. Chairman Shin Young-kyun and former Chairperson Kim Dong-ho and other senior figures must have felt heavy at sending a junior on first, yet they stayed until the end, and I am grateful. My husband will probably want to look down from heaven and greet them."
Oh So-young recalled the moment her husband Ahn Sung-ki collapsed. According to Oh So-young, Dec. 30 of last year was an ordinary, peaceful day, and the last conversation is reported to have been when she handed a snack to her husband, who was watching TV, and said, "Please have this."
At the casketing ceremony, Oh So-young stroked her husband's cheek and offered a final farewell: "I really, really loved you more than anything during all this time. Thank you for being such a good husband. Thank you for being a good father to our two sons." She also promised they would meet again, saying, "Let's meet as husband and wife in our next life."
Myeongdong Cathedral, where Ahn Sung-ki's funeral was held, was also where Ahn Sung-ki and Oh So-young were married in 1985. Oh So-young said, "While the memorial mass was being held, the day of our wedding vividly came back to me. I felt as if we were allowed to part at the place where we formed our marital bond."
About Ahn Sung-ki, Oh So-young said, "If my husband had only been a good actor in public, I would have grown tired of the insincere side first. Watching him endlessly strive to be a good husband and a good father at home, I could love him unchanged for 40 years." She added, "Our two sons are also very grateful to everyone who helped. Following my husband's intention of living as a good person, who tried his whole life to do so, we will continue to make sure our two sons live kindly and diligently."
Meanwhile, Ahn Sung-ki passed away on the 5th. On Dec. 30 of last year, he lost consciousness and collapsed at his home in the afternoon and was taken to the hospital emergency room; he received treatment but ultimately did not recover.
