Singer and actor Park Yuchun expressed his feelings after his dispute with his former agency was resolved.
On the 17th, Park Yuchun posted on his social media, "This moment is so precious that I never want to lose it again. People, and time."
He added, "Am I living in Japan after all? Daisy, what do you think? "Yes, yes,"" which drew attention.
According to a report by Star News on the 17th, management company Loud Fun Together (formerly Have Fun Together) withdrew the damages claim it filed on the 8th against Park Yuchun and his former agency Riciello. Park Yuchun, who had filed a counterclaim, also withdrew it, and with the case closed, Park Yuchun's obligation to pay 50 million won and delayed interest was eliminated.
In January 2020, Loud Fun Together signed a contract with Riciello to be granted exclusive management rights over Park Yuchun through 2024. However, in May 2021 Park Yuchun requested termination of his exclusive contract with Loud Fun Together, and after negotiations failed he and Riciello sent an official letter saying "If settlement payments are not made, the exclusive contract can be terminated."
Loud Fun Together remained unresponsive, and after notifying them of the contract termination, Park Yuchun continued his entertainment activities through another management firm A run by an acquaintance. Ultimately, in August 2021 Loud Fun Together filed for an injunction to ban Park Yuchun from broadcasting appearances and entertainment activities, and the court granted it.
Nevertheless, Park Yuchun violated the injunction and continued activities with the new management, and Loud Fun Together sued Park Yuchun, Riciello and A for damages of about 50 million won, saying they infringed on its management rights. The first-instance court said, "Park Yuchun engaged in entertainment activities through A without Loud Fun Together's consent, violating the court's injunction, and Riciello actively participated in this," and ordered Park Yuchun and Riciello to jointly pay Have Fun Together 50 million won and delayed interest.
Loud Fun Together and Riciello claimed that Loud Fun Together had not paid settlement money and that the exclusive contract had been lawfully terminated, but financial transaction records confirmed by the court showed that settlement payments were made on time. However, the court said damages for Park Yuchun and others were premised on activities through another management company and rejected Loud Fun Together's request to bar them from entertainment activities entirely.
In the appeal held in September last year, the court upheld the first-instance ruling. However, during the appeal Riciello's counterclaim that "Loud Fun Together had some unpaid settlement money" was partially accepted, and the court ruled that Loud Fun Together calculate unpaid settlement items and pay Riciello 47 million won.
Separately, in 2019 Park Yuchun was indicted on methamphetamine use charges and was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence. At the time he held a press conference and said he would retire from the entertainment industry if the allegations were true; despite the guilty verdict he reversed his retirement and is currently continuing activities overseas, including in Japan.
