'I want to eat your pancreas' author Yoru Sumino left a direct message for Korean fans ahead of the release of another work, the film 'My own secret.'

'My own secret' is another signature work by Yoru Sumino, who achieved a syndrome-level popularity in Korea as well as Japan with his first debut novel 'I want to eat your pancreas,' and its film adaptation is drawing attention. 'My own secret' is a refreshing, emotional fantasy romance film about five young people who each have a special ability to see others' emotions and who, while hiding their own secrets, read, hide, misunderstand and try to align each other's feelings.
'My own secret,' which surpassed 800,000 copies sold in Japan, drew a lot of attention in Korea even before the live-action film production, and many movie fans were waiting for its domestic release. In this context, Yoru Sumino caught attention by sending a handwritten message to domestic movie fans. This live-action film based on the novel of the same name depicts the clumsy love and friendship of five high school students who have the special ability to see others' emotions as symbols. Yoru Sumino conveyed honest and warm insight about the desperation of adolescence and what it means to become an adult. Regarding the insertion of these symbols, Yoru Sumino explained, "It started as a short story that hinted at Kyo's ability, but when I wove the stories of the five into one volume, the current title was born." Yoru Sumino, who began writing novels in middle school and debuted as a high school student, still writes pieces that today's teenagers can relate to. He confessed, "I am still somewhat pessimistic, but as a teenager I disliked more things and was more disappointed by more things. Amid that, the novels I encountered in the library made me dream of my current profession. I am glad I have lived without despair," implying that the feelings he experienced touch the emotions felt by the youths in 'My own secret' and raising expectations for the comfort Yoru Sumino will provide.
