ONEUS is moving into a new chapter.
ONEUS will release the single album "原 (Won)" today (the 20th) at 6 p.m. on various music platforms. "原" signifies ONEUS's origin and beginning. ONEUS depicts a rebirth narrative in which they face their origin and are reborn, not a simple return to the past.
The title track, "Grenade," was completed with lyrics that members Geonhee and Hwanwoong wrote to add intense immersion. Centered on a heavy bass, it captures uncontrolled extreme emotions, and its bold sound development, as if suppressed energy explodes, maximizes the song's tension.
Below is a Q&A with ONEUS ahead of the release of the single album "原."
Q. You are releasing the single album "原" about seven months after your previous work. Please give a brief comeback impression and introduce the album.
Edo: ONEUS is coming back with the last album with RBW, the first album of the new year, and an album with a new style. The words "last" and "a new beginning" seem to fit best. It's strange but also makes me excited.
Geonhee: Celebrating our 7th anniversary recently naturally made me look back on ONEUS's past. I felt that we have really worked hard, and that made me want to grow even more. I hope this album becomes an opportunity to move forward.
Hwanwoong: I'm excited that we can start 2026 impactfully with "原." Since this is a new challenge for us, I'm curious to see how people will view this side of us.
Sion: This is our first album of 2026. I'm grateful to be able to greet fans with a new album on our 7th anniversary. Since this album contains a new beginning, I wanted to convey the message that ONEUS will be able to show more in the future.
Q. "原" contains ONEUS's origin and beginning. What do you think is the "origin of ONEUS"?
Edo: I think ONEUS's origin is the people who love us. TO-MOON (the fandom name), and everyone who has supported ONEUS. I feel that because people recognized us and gave us affection, ONEUS could continue to stand on stage.
Sion: I think it's "us." We, each with different colors, came together to form one team, and over the time we spent together we created ONEUS's unique color. Now our color is ONEUS's color, and I want to say that it itself is ONEUS.
Q. Members Geonhee and Hwanwoong directly participated in writing the lyrics for the title track "Grenade." Could you tell us what you focused on when writing the lyrics?
Geonhee: I started working with the main focus on what we, as ONEUS, really wanted to say in line with the album's theme. We also boldly removed parts that didn't convey our sincerity well or that didn't suit ONEUS.
Hwanwoong: At the start of the work, I wrote lyrics imagining situations that fit the word "Grenade," the song's identity. The act of pulling the pin and not knowing when it will explode, and throwing your whole body toward a goal without stopping, oddly overlapped with us. I tried to appropriately capture the contrasting emotions of confidence and precariousness.
Q. As you are called a "fourth-generation representative performer," attention is focused on the performance of "Grenade" as well. Are there any killing parts or point choreography on stage we should watch for?
Hwanwoong: Even amid a nonstop, intense performance, I hope you pay attention to the clean, concise moves. The chorus choreography that looks like pulling the pin of a grenade and throwing it, parts expressing precarious and urgent situations, and the "explosive" part that serves as a signal of reversal are the killing points.
Q. This is also your last album to be released by your agency RBW. It must feel different; what does this album mean to ONEUS?
Sion: It feels like an emotion I felt for the first time in my life. I started music with RBW, and it feels like leaving home and going out into the world. I'm scared but also excited. Although this is our last album with RBW, ONEUS will continue to greet you with more music in the future, so please keep watching over us.
Q. Lastly, please say a word to TO-MOON.
Edo: ONEUS is back with a new album in 2026. We worked really hard for this comeback to present music and performances we've never shown before, so I hope TO-MOON likes it. Please give us lots of love and interest.
