The first trial was held for the robber who broke into the home of After School alumnus and actress Nana.
On the 20th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Uijeongbu District Court Namyangju Branch (presiding judge Kim Guk-sik) held the first trial for A, who was indicted on charges of attempted robbery and injury for breaking into Nana's home with a weapon and attempting to commit robbery.
A was prosecuted on charges of attempted robbery after breaking into Nana's home in Acheondong, Guri, Gyeonggi Province, at around 5:38 a.m. on Nov. 15 last year, threatening Nana and her mother with a weapon and demanding money, but being subdued by Nana and her mother. Nana and Nana's mother submitted medical certificates saying they suffered injuries requiring 33 days and 31 days of treatment, respectively, due to A's crime.
A's side said, "We admit that he entered Nana's home, but it was for simple theft, not robbery with intent to steal money and valuables, and he did not strangle Nana's mother. He did not assault the victims, and he was beaten unilaterally by Nana," adding, "The 33 days of treatment Nana sustained are not defensive wounds inflicted by the defendant but are offensive wounds. Please request the National Forensic Service to examine whether the defendant's fingerprints are on the weapon and the weapon case currently held as evidence."
A said, "I committed the crime after learning through an internet search that many wealthy people such as entertainers live in Acheondong while being in financial difficulty, but I did not bring a weapon. I did not strangle Nana's mother; startled, she screamed and pushed, and I held her shoulder from the side to calm her down," and added, "After Nana's mother had calmed down, Nana suddenly ran out and swung a weapon, and then I had a physical struggle with Nana, but I appeared to be resisting."
Meanwhile, A filed a complaint from the detention center saying, 'I was harmed by a weapon by Nana.' With Nana processed as a suspect in the procedure and having completed police questioning, the Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi said it found no grounds for charging Nana, who had been under investigation for attempted murder and special injury, and decided not to forward the case for prosecution.
The next trial for A will be held on March 10.
