The busy schedule of chef Im Seong-keun, who personally confessed to a three-strike drunk driving record, has also stopped.
On the 19th, OSEN reporting found that Im Seong-keun will not conduct any more home shopping broadcasts.
According to broadcasting insiders, Im Seong-keun sold a galbijjim product that morning through the home shopping cable channel Shopping NT. However, it was confirmed that this was a recorded broadcast, not live.
Coincidentally, Im Seong-keun was scheduled to sell "pogikimchi" at 4:30 p.m. and "domestic LA galbi" at 6:30 p.m. that day, and additional broadcasts were planned for the 20th. However, those contents were recorded broadcasts, and it was said that Im Seong-keun's home shopping broadcasts would not continue afterward.
Regarding this, Shopping NT told OSEN, "Shopping NT is a recorded home shopping broadcast, not live, and the broadcasts from today (the 19th) through the 20th are parts that were recorded in advance," adding, "home shopping requires a broadcast agreement contract to be written up to three days in advance. Arbitrarily canceling a scheduled program falls under prohibited acts reviewed by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) and the Korea Media and Communications Commission (KMCC)," explaining why they had no choice but to air Im Seong-keun's appearances as they were.
Earlier, on the 18th, Im Seong-keun apologized in a YouTube video after personally confessing that he had been caught driving under the influence three times in the past 10 years. He bowed his head and said, "I did not want to hide myself. I thought it was right to apologize to my subscribers," and "I am sorry for causing unnecessary concern."
He added, "Suddenly receiving enormous love became a burden, and amid a busy schedule and a hard life I came to rely on alcohol," and "I hope you will forgive me generously. I will live carefully so that this will not be a problem in the future."
The fallout from Im Seong-keun's drunk driving confession spread to the broadcasting world. MBC's "The Manager" scheduled to air this week is discussing whether to edit, and appearances that were being discussed on "Hangout With Yoo" and "Men on a Mission" were canceled.
Despite the situation, Im Seong-keun drew criticism by conducting a live on-site sales broadcast that morning for "Im Seong-keun's slightly different boneless galbijjim." As the controversy spread, it appears he ultimately canceled all subsequent scheduled home shopping appearances.
