BABYMONSTER's full-length album 1st "DRIP" track "Really Like You" is drawing attention as it continues a resurgence march along with a challenge craze.
On the 19th, YG Entertainment said BABYMONSTER's "Really Like You" ranked No. 1 on the TikTok Korea Music Viral 50 chart for five days from the 11th to the 15th. The song continues to hold top positions not only on the viral chart but also on the rising 50 chart, and videos using the track have surpassed about 100,000.
The excitement across short-form platforms is also hot. The combined reels views of "Really Like You" uploaded to BABYMONSTER's official Instagram approach about 100 million, and the song re-entered the daily YouTube Shorts popular songs chart in Korea. Not only the challenge but also teaser content are being consumed together, driving the song's popularity.
The "Really Like You" challenge has received strong responses with a signature choreography that draws an O shape with the hands to the lyrics "Okay, okay." The gesture that cutely expresses a fluttering heart, the members' fresh smiles and the intuitive moves that anyone can easily follow have led to broad participation from the public and fellow artists.
This resurgence was sparked by the group's fan concert stage in Japan last December. At a time when the group's recognition rose from year-end award shows, the fan concert stage video spread quickly online and gained word-of-mouth. The "Okay, okay" part and the song's winter sensibility were reexamined, creating a rising atmosphere.
The momentum that started on short-form platforms is translating into staying power on music charts. "Really Like You" recently re-entered the YouTube Korea weekly popular songs chart TOP100, and its music video is also showing a good trend on the daily popular chart. Major domestic and international platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Melon and VIBE are also raising the song's rankings day by day.
BABYMONSTER fueled the buzz further by revealing a new version of the challenge. With the members' active participation and fans' reactions combined, expectations are growing about how far "Really Like You"'s upward trend will continue.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER recently concluded the Asia fan concert "LOVE MONSTERS" tour successfully. Combining this fan concert tour (140,000) and their first world tour (300,000), they drew 440,000 attendees from solo tours over the past year, demonstrating their overwhelming global influence.
