Popular chef Im Seong-keun confessed to three past DUI convictions and is facing heavy public criticism, and the production team of Omniscient Interfering View, which had announced his appearance, is discussing whether to air the segment.
On the 19th, a representative of MBC entertainment program Omniscient Interfering View told OSEN that "We are currently discussing the matter" regarding chef Im Seong-keun's screen time and whether the segment will be broadcast, saying this as an official position.
Chef Im Seong-keun is a figure who recently drew attention by appearing as a White Spoon on the Netflix original entertainment show Culinary Class Wars: cooking class war 2, which was released to popularity. With a friendly manner of speaking and dazzling cooking skills, he received intense affection and emerged as the biggest beneficiary of Culinary Class Wars 2.
On the 18th, he posted a video titled "Food and drinking" on his personal YouTube channel Imjjang TV, confessing to past DUI offenses. He said he was caught three times over the past 10 years and received criminal punishment, and that the most recent arrest was about five to six years ago. He also posted a handwritten apology on social media, apologizing to fans and asking for forgiveness.
However, public criticism is strong, saying that three offenses, not just one, indicate deliberate wrongdoing rather than a simple mistake. Above all, he had consistently appeared on broadcast programs since winning Olive TV's Han-sik Competition 3 in 2015 before Culinary Class Wars 2. There is considerable public criticism that he hid his DUI record and confessed to his past convictions belatedly after succeeding on Culinary Class Wars 2.
Ironically, prior to this, Omniscient Interfering View had finished filming chef Im Seong-keun and even announced his appearance. Attention is focused on whether Im Seong-keun's segment will be included in Omniscient Interfering View.
