Former SBS announcer Kim Da-young explained why she decided to marry her husband, Bae Seong-jae, who is 14 years older than her.
On Jan. 18, a new video titled "What love means to me" was posted on the YouTube channel "Dayoung Anaya."
That day Kim Da-young said, "There are times when my husband sometimes asks, 'When or what was the moment that made you decide you had to marry me?'"
She said, "Actually, there wasn't one. Rather than there being one huge turning point, I don't know how I appear publicly, but I have complexes in my heart, and above all my standards for myself are very high, so there didn't seem to be many things I liked about myself."
Kim Da-young said, "He didn't just lump everything about me together and love me or praise me; he pinpointed in detail the parts of myself I couldn't love and loved those points more."
She added, "Hearing him explain why those things are not flaws but strengths, and why they must be lovable aspects of me, made me think, 'I need this person.'"
Kim Da-young said she asked the same question to Bae Seong-jae and boasted, "According to my husband, he didn't strongly feel happiness or unhappiness before, but after meeting me he realized for the first time, 'Happiness exists' and 'It is meaningful that people pursue and strive for a happy life.'"
He said, "Of course there are painful moments from the heavy responsibility of having to protect that happiness," but added, "My husband and I are people with shortcomings, but as we are together those gaps are being filled beautifully and smoothly."
Meanwhile, Kim Da-young and Bae Seong-jae developed a relationship through the SBS entertainment program "Shooting Stars" and married in May last year after about two years of dating.
