'Extreme 84' saw Kian84 let go of pressure and take a step forward with a 'run in sa dae cheonmyeong' mindset.
Kian84 began the ultimate extreme, the Arctic marathon, on the MBC variety show 'Extreme 84' aired on the 18th.
After Africa and France, Kian84 chose the Arctic event as the extreme crew's final battleground and after a three-day journey entered the Arctic. Marveling at mysterious natural sights seen only in the Arctic, such as Russell Glacier, and steeling himself, Kian84 led the crew in a marathon simulation from 4 a.m. the next day to prepare for the cold, and approached the final challenge one step closer through course exploration and rehearsal.
Facing the final challenge, Kian84 could not hide his nerves after encountering a hidden course that required climbing while holding a rope and the icy course 'ice cap,' which brought to mind an ice hell, saying, "It feels alien, like entering an unknown world." Nonetheless, as crew leader Kian84 encouraged the crew and drew out their passion. He also, after removing clothing in the middle of a glacier as a ceremony to kindle his will, teased that Gangnam's 'fur' is the most important foreshadowing in 'Extreme 84,' raising curiosity.
Arriving at the airport to hear a briefing after scouting the course, Kian84, for Kwon Hwa Woon, who was notably weak on ice, asked for help from the 'formidable rivals,' Dutch youths, and in a quirky move plucked the aforementioned Gangnam 'fur' and kept it like a lucky charm, drawing laughs. In this context, Kian84 proved his global popularity by delivering an impromptu video message after a Brazilian participant said his daughter was a fan.
Although he cheerfully finished talking with the crew, Kian84 could not hide his troubled feelings. He said, "Honestly, I have let go of my goals. Every time I run I ask for advice and try because I think, 'Why aren't my times improving?' but even when I do that I still don't run well. When results come out well I want them, but then I become obsessed with the numbers and my mind goes in circles," revealing his feelings. To relieve his troubled mind, Kian84 did mind control by talking on the phone with his mother.
On the day of the Arctic event, Kian84 took out his running log and said, "I have done the work myself, so I won't hope for luck. I will go as far as I have run," firming his 'run in sa dae cheonmyeong' mindset. Having thoroughly prepared equipment for the cold and icy roads, Kian84 said, "Because many people see me running, the desire to show that I run well became a shackle. I'm letting go of the pressure and will try to enjoy running. I won't be obsessive and will go as my legs move," and took a spirited first step.
