Kim Young-hee revealed the story of cutting ties with her mother.
On the 17th episode of MBN's 'Sokpuri Show Dongchim' the topic was 'Is mom a pushover?' and they discussed it.
Kim Young-hee said, "When I got married, my circumstances were not good. It was a time when I was taking a long break from broadcasting. Far more people came than I expected. With the congratulatory money I barely managed to hold the wedding. Thanks to my husband I took out a youth loan and finished the newlywed home. I was that desperate," saying she struggled to hold the wedding.
Kim Young-hee said, "My mother didn't contribute a single won. Out of stubbornness I asked, 'Just buy me a rice cooker.' She said she could buy it but not now. But more congratulatory money came in than expected. My mother called and said, 'Give me the congratulatory money that came in my name,'" she said.
She continued, "During wedding preparations I fought with my mother a lot. We fought so much I wondered if she was my birth mother. So I gave it up as it was. Recently my younger brother got married. She subtly said, 'I gave the congratulatory money to your brother.' I was exhausted from regional performances and in a situation of repaying debt. I yelled at my mother, 'Isn't my money money?' and 'I'm sick' and said 'let's not meet,'" and after unleashing harsh words she said she declared cutting ties with her mother.
Kim Young-hee said, "Wasn't I the one who left the child with her? Now I can't even leave my daughter. After cutting ties I thought, 'What was I thinking.' I cut ties for 20 days. I contacted my brother and extremely said, 'If mom dies, tell me,'" indicating how deep her hurt was.
Kim Young-hee said, "My mother listened to my brother and offered an apology. But she told me I was cruel. She even called my husband and said, 'You are also really cold,'" saying that after twists and turns they reconciled.
