The home and daily life of Shin Woo-hyun, the nephew of Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Korea's only FIA Formula 3 (F3) driver, were unveiled through the broadcast.
On the 17th, the MBC variety show Omniscient Interfering View aired a short daily life in Korea of Shin Woo-hyun, who has been attracting attention as a member of the extended Hyundai family. The home shown on that day's footage was more than a simple living space; it was a training base camp designed around the life of a racing driver.
There were suitcases inside the house that had not yet been unpacked. Shin Woo-hyun said, "During the season I hardly come to Korea, and I stay briefly in the off-season," and "I flew about 120 times just this year," surprising the cast. He had been filmed only 13 hours after returning from a stay in France.
What drew the most attention was the private training area set up inside the house. After checking his weight immediately upon waking, he put on his helmet and began training. Seeing the space filled with treadmills and various equipment, Yang Se-hyung said, "There's a stairway to hell in the house," clicking his tongue. It looked as if a private training facility for a driver had been inserted into a corner of a chaebol family residence.
His diet management was also strict. Shin Woo-hyun prepared meals separately from his mother, Ms. Jung Yun-yi, and checked the weight and calories of the food himself. He said, "Even a 1kg weight gain can make a 1- to 2-second difference in the late stages of a race," conveying the sensitivity of a racer to even small numbers. After meals, he continued training by analyzing onboard footage and data in a room filled with racing equipment and data.
Meanwhile, Shin Woo-hyun was born in 2004 and is the nephew of Chairman Chung Eui-sun and a driver from the Hyundai Motor Group family. His mother, Ms. Jung Yun-yi, is known to be the chairman's third older sister. Despite coming from a chaebol family background, he is challenging the FIA Formula 3 stage with the determination to prove himself by results on the track rather than by his family name.
