A singer and YouTuber surnamed A, who is accused of abusing his biological daughter to death, did not state his position at the first trial.
according to legal sources, on the 15th the Changwon District Court, Jinju Branch, 1st Criminal Division (Presiding Judge Kim Gi-dong) held the first trial for A, who is accused of killing his biological daughter.
A is accused of taking his college daughter B, who was on leave from school, to work lending broadcast equipment, beating B and pouring hot water on her, inflicting serious injuries including scalp lacerations and burns, and leaving his daughter, who complained of pain, in a vehicle for more than two days, leading to her death.
The court said that A plans to proceed with the trial with both a court-appointed lawyer and a privately retained lawyer. Previously, A's privately retained lawyer was replaced several times, delaying the appointment and prompting two postponements of the trial as a result.
At the trial, when asked whether he acknowledged the charges, A said, "I am not properly aware of the details of the charges," and did not state his position.
A's next trial will be held on Feb. 5.
Meanwhile, A had worked in the Jinju area as an announcer, singer, YouTube channel operator and various promotional ambassador, but was dismissed from the ambassador position because of this case. It was reported that the day before the incident he participated in a firefighting training event hosted by the Namhae Fire Station with his daughter, adding to the shock.
