Actor Ashton Kutcher revealed an anecdote about being fired for being fat when he was a model.
Ashton Kutcher said in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight that he was fired by Gucci for being overweight.
In the interview, Ashton Kutcher recalled winning a campaign from the luxury fashion house that Tom Ford was leading at the time and going to Italy for the shoot. He recalled, "I went to do a runway show in Italy and they put something like a pink Speedo on me. And Ford said, 'she is too fat,' and I was fired."
He added, "At the time I weighed exactly 178 pounds (80kg)."
He confessed that he now laughs about the past with this legendary designer. Ashton Kutcher laughed, "Now we laugh about it together. He says, 'you were really too fat,' and I say, 'I was 178 pounds! What are you talking about?'"
He explained, "He had a specific thing he wanted, and in his eyes that was right," and "That doesn't mean I was lacking; it means I wasn't the subject he wanted at that moment."
Ashton Kutcher began modeling around age 19. He also said of his time as a professional model, "What I realized very quickly was that everyone has insecurities."
Earlier, Ashton Kutcher commented on his model looks, saying, "There are roles I got because of my looks and roles I didn't get. Sometimes it's frustrating."
