Broadcaster Yu Jae-seok paid out of his own pocket for expensive plane tickets for a variety show shoot.
On the 17th, a video titled "The pre-meeting for Wind Direction High 2 is just an excuse" was uploaded to the Tteunddeun channel.
That day, Yu Jae-seok, Jee Seokjin, Lee Sung-min and Yang Se-chan gathered in one place for a meeting ahead of the Wind Direction High 2 shoot. First, they talked about travel destinations, checked plane ticket prices and then decided on the final decision.
The final candidates were Helsinki, Finland; Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary, and Yu Jae-seok called the travel agency manager who had helped them in season 1 to ask for his opinion. He said, "It's time for us to go again after a year. We don't have an app or anything. There's nothing booked right now. So I want to check the plane ticket prices. We haven't decided where, but the dates are Nov. 21 to Nov. 25, and some candidates came up while we were having the meeting," he said, naming the candidates.
In response, the manager explained, "There is no national carrier to Helsinki and only Finnair operates. Vienna, Budapest and Prague have direct flights (with national carriers). Helsinki is somewhat cheaper, but because it's a foreign carrier its rules differ from Korea's rules, so there can be difficulties with changes or seat assignments in the middle, and the price itself is a bit cheaper."
Yu Jae-seok requested, "Then please make sure the times are kept. We have schedules, so sadly let's put off Helsinki for next time and please check Vienna, Prague and Budapest," and the manager asked, "Based on departure, Vienna is available for booking. Will it be business or economy?" Yu Jae-seok answered, "We need to see the situation," and the manager said, "Both classes have seats. The departure time is 11:55 a.m. But the return flight does not operate on that day. Operations vary by day of the week."
The production team suggested, "Or there might be flights coming from nearby Budapest or elsewhere to Vienna," and the manager said, "There are seats available from Budapest to Incheon. The arrival time is 2:10 p.m. on the 25th." Yu Jae-seok was very satisfied and showed excitement, saying, "It feels a bit like Mission: Impossible."
But the round-trip price for business class was 6,300,000 won. When they tried to check economy prices, Lee Sung-min shook his head, saying, "Economy is dead...," and Yang Se-chan also shook his head, saying, "What, are we going to spend 2,500 before we even start?" The discounted economy fare was 1,100,000 won round trip, a big difference. Yu Jae-seok asked, "Can we go economy there and business on the way back?" and the manager replied, "360,000 won per person."
Yang Se-chan also asked, "How about entering only through Budapest?" and Jee Seokjin responded, "That's a good idea, right?" while expressing concern, "But are we the ones paying these plane ticket prices?" Yu Jae-seok answered bluntly, "We have to pay, who else would?" and Jee Seokjin said, "Season 1 did well.." expressing the burden. Yang Se-chan agreed, saying, "Vietnam was a price that made us laugh, but this makes us laugh a little less," and Yu Jae-seok suggested, "Anyway, if we go, let's do business both ways. Because we have to continue filming as soon as we get off, so it's expensive but isn't it something each of us can invest in?"
Jee Seokjin also replied, "I can do it," and Lee Sung-min nodded, saying, "I agree." Yu Jae-seok said, "There are older brothers among us and to film in the best condition we should do business class," and Jee Seokjin said, "Can't we just transfer the payment?" Yang Se-chan asked, "Do we have to transfer? I was going to put it on my card to at least accumulate miles..." but agreed, "Okay. I'll give you cash."
Then the production team proposed, "There might be PPL for the tickets, so we'll pay with production funds," and Yu Jae-seok worried, "That might be too much." Lee Sung-min told the cast, "Don't do that," saying, "It adds up to that much!" and Yang Se-chan told the production team, "That's too much. It's 2,500." In response, Jee Seokjin tried to restrain him, saying, "Se-chan, be quiet...," and Yang Se-chan suggested, "Let's do something else instead."
Yu Jae-seok said firmly, "Because using our own money is more comfortable for us. If it's covered by production funds, it's a bit awkward for us too," and Lee Sung-min persuaded Jee Seokjin, saying, "Right, that way you can brag a little more." Jee Seokjin, flustered, asked, "Isn't it usually all covered by production funds?" and Lee Sung-min asked, "How did it go last time?" Jee Seokjin said, "We paid going and the production paid coming back," and Yu Jae-seok said, "You should split it half and half."
Yang Se-chan joked, "Shall we pay a bit more and give you a ride, hyung?" and Jee Seokjin replied, "No, just pay it all. You can do it," drawing laughs. Yu Jae-seok concluded, "Okay, each of you pay. If you're going to do business class. Let's do that. Go to Austria and return via Budapest."
