Actor Daniel Stern, who was beloved worldwide for the Home Alone series, has suffered a serious blow to his career after being charged with soliciting prostitution.
On the 16th (local time), the Daily Mail reported that Daniel Stern (68) was booked on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting prostitution on Dec. 10 last year at a hotel in Camarillo, California. Stern was not arrested or detained at the scene, but he is due to appear for a court hearing on Feb. 6. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail or a maximum fine of $1,000.
Because of the controversy, Stern has been removed from the ABC comedy pilot Do You Want Kids? in which he was scheduled to appear. He had been cast as the family patriarch Freddy in the project, but ABC confirmed to the Daily Mail that it would recast the role.
Do You Want Kids? is a project that tells the story of married couple Rosie and Alex living two parallel lives — one with children and one without — and Rachel Bloom and Lory Scovel had been confirmed to appear.
Daniel Stern played Marv Merchants, one of the Wet Bandits, in Home Alone 1 and 2, gaining public recognition for his comic chemistry with Joe Pesci. He said in a past interview that he had a dispute with the studio over a pay increase when appearing in the sequel.
Stern recently revealed that he left Hollywood and has been living on a farm. In December last year he told fans on TikTok, "I am currently living on a farm growing tangerines," sharing small moments of his daily life that drew attention.
Meanwhile, his last TV appearance was on season 4 (2023) of the Apple TV+ science-fiction series For All Mankind, and his last film appearance was the 2019 movie James vs. His Future Self*.
Hollywood insiders and observers are focused on what impact the prostitution charge will have on actor Daniel Stern's future acting career.<
