Nam Jin recounted an episode in which he narrowly escaped death.
On the 16th episode of SBS entertainment show ''My secretary squad is too picky - Secretary Squad'' (hereinafter ''Secretary Squad''), the living legend of Korea's pop music industry, superstar Nam Jin, grants as "my star".
That day Nam Jin recalled the stabbing attack while receiving a leg massage before a performance, saying, "I injured my left leg. I was stabbed with a blade long ago. (thigh) The knife went in here. It hit from the back and popped out forward."
The stabbing attack on Nam Jin was an incident in 1989 in which three gang members threatened Nam Jin and stabbed his thigh. About this, Nam Jin said, "If it had missed by just 1 mm I would have been disabled. Even back then there is the aorta. If that is hit you die in three minutes. If it had gone through that gap I probably couldn't have done this program," and added calmly, "I'm lucky. It's fortunate that it didn't become XX," and said, "We're lucky because I'm alive."
Then Lee Seo-jin said, "It's not common to meet and have a meal with the person who stabbed you," and Nam Jin replied, "It's not easy. There is a reason. That friend's life changed. It's fate, right? A few days ago we even ate together," which surprised viewers.
Nam Jin said he was stabbed with a sashimi knife, saying, "When I was standing I was hit from behind. It popped out forward," and recalled his first meeting with the assailant after the incident.
At the time, Nam Jin met the assailant when the attacker knelt and approached while he was drinking coffee with his party at a junior colleague's wedding he knew. He said, "I looked and said, 'What the—' and it was the friend who stabbed me. I said, 'Hey you XX, you surprised me. I thought you brought it again.' When I came he said he was happy and came to greet me."
He added, "There is a reason. Wasn't that attempted murder when the accident happened? I did my best to reduce the sentence," showing a magnanimous side by asking for leniency for the assailant, which drew attention.
Meanwhile, Kim Kwang-kyu asked Nam Jin, who had served in the Vietnam War, "Did you experience a firefight?" Volunteering for service and serving abroad, Nam Jin said, "I was in a firefight," but confessed, "I was eating when a bomb exploded here (on the left). But it was a dud."
He went on, "Six of us were eating and when I and another person were about to stand up there was a 'sshh' sound. Everyone lay face down. A bomb had embedded itself right next to us. Sand got in and it just spun uselessly. I was in my early twenties so I wasn't scared. Someone who was with me then said, 'If that had gone off that day, you and I wouldn't be in this world,'" recounting the near-death episode.
A surprised Lee Seo-jin said, "Hearing that I think you should be careful on your left side. With bombs and wounds, you should watch your left side," and Nam Jin joked, "My left side isn't good."
