'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' Son Tae Jin proved to be a linguistic talent.
On the 16th, the KBS 2TV variety show 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereafter 'Fun-Staurant') aired, featuring singer Son Tae Jin as a new guest chef.
Son Tae Jin graduated from Seoul National University's vocal department, was the first winner of 'Phantom Singer' and the winner of 'Burning Trot Man'. It was even noted that his great-aunt is singer Shim Soo-bong, his cousin is vocalist Jinwon, and his nephew is Billy's Siyun, drawing attention as a musical family.
That day, Son Tae Jin woke up to an alarm and watched American news without Korean subtitles. Watching at 2x speed, he then watched French news and Chinese news, surprising everyone.
It turned out Son Tae Jin is capable of speaking six languages in total, including English, French, Italian, Chinese and Japanese. Son Tae Jin said he was embarrassed, saying, "It seems like I gain one more each time I appear on the show," and Moon Jeong-hee marveled, "He really is like a cheat character."
Son Tae Jin said, "I lived abroad for about 16 years. I grew up in Singapore through elementary, middle and high school. I was born in Seoul but spent my childhood entirely in Singapore. Getting into Seoul National University was my first experience living in Korea."
According to him, Son Tae Jin attended a Chinese school and a Korean school in Singapore, then went to an American school for middle and high school where he acquired languages. He also said he was accepted to a French university for hotel management but after some consideration attended Seoul National University's vocal department, and Son Tae Jin said, "While studying in Italy I grew up experiencing various cultures."
