The reasons behind broadcaster Park Na-rae's failed contract renewal with her former agency JDB Entertainment were revealed belatedly.
On the 15th, OSEN reported that during negotiations last year over a contract renewal with JDB Entertainment, Park Na-rae showed differences of opinion over the signing bonus and future activity direction. It was reported that the core issue was disagreement over future career direction rather than financial terms.
JDB Entertainment told OSEN, "There was a greater difference of opinion on work-related matters than on money," adding, "At first there was talk about the signing bonus, but sufficient adjustments were made afterward."
However, former managers also alleged that during this process, Park Na-rae and JDB Entertainment representative Mr. Park had an argument while having a private conversation. In the end, the two sides failed to close the gap on activity direction, and Park Na-rae chose to part ways with JDB Entertainment, where she had worked for about nine years.
The resurfacing of the contract renewal issue follows recent revelations exchanged between Park Na-rae and her former managers. Former manager A said while explaining allegations of inflating his career that "at the time, Park Na-rae and JDB Entertainment tried to keep him from leaving."
In particular, A said, "Park Na-rae requested a recording to secure a weakness of JDB Entertainment representative Mr. Park and sent that recording to Park Na-rae and Park Na-rae's boyfriend," adding, "I still have it in my possession," escalating the controversy.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae's former managers have filed a damage compensation lawsuit seeking about 100 million won, claiming they suffered workplace harassment, special injury, proxy prescriptions and unpaid production fees while employed. In response, Park Na-rae filed criminal complaints against her former managers for attempted extortion and embezzlement in the course of business and has taken legal action.
With the two sides' claims sharply at odds, the battle over the truth surrounding the failed contract renewal is expected to continue for the time being.<
