ENHYPEN will make a comeback today (16th) at 2 p.m. with mini album 7 THE SIN : VANISH. Their masterpiece, which swept the grand prizes at major music awards last year and established them as K-pop's new leaders, unfolds before ENGENE (fandom name) around the world.
ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Ni-ki) opens the curtain to a new album series THE SIN, which is motivated by the concept of sin, starting with THE SIN : VANISH. This album tells the story of lovers who, in a world where humans and vampires coexist, break taboos and flee for love.
Sharpening their knives and ready to ride the blade, the title track Knife
The title track Knife is a song ENHYPEN prepared with a resolute mindset as if sharpening a blade. The song is a hip-hop track that highlights a dark atmosphere and a trap beat with strong impact, concentrically showcasing the confidence of lovers who will face any threat without backing down and ENHYPEN's powerful energy. Gaeko of Dynamic Duo participated in writing the lyrics, giving the song a clearer color.
The return of the performance king has been foreshadowed. In the Knife challenge preview clip posted on the team's official SNS the day before (15th), ENHYPEN showed precise choreography as if riding a blade. In particular, the point choreography that shapes a sharp blade with the hands gives an instinctive yet refined impression. The members' movements soaring out of the darkness and the heavy rhythm alternate, raising anticipation for the comeback stage to a peak.
An immersive concept album crafted in the form of investigative reporting
THE SIN : VANISH is not simply a collection of songs. It is a high-quality concept album in which the narrative, lyrics and sound of every track are organically intertwined. ENHYPEN borrowed the format of an investigative program called Mystery Show that tracks an unprecedented incident to structure the album, meticulously arranging six songs, four narrations and one skit. Each track closely follows the flow from the moment the vampire lovers decide to flee to the complex emotions they face at the end.
Top artists from every field were mobilized to provide a deeper immersive experience. Actor Park Jeongmin lends his voice as the Mystery Show host and leads four narration tracks, solidly supporting the album's narrative. The narration tracks were produced in four languages—Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese—to convey the album's deep emotional line.
Gaeko, who has created numerous hits, wrote the lyrics for the title track Knife and the album track Big Girls Don't Cry with his distinctive, sensuous language. So!YoON! (Hwang So-yoon), who features on No Way Back (Feat. So!YoON!), created rich harmony with ENHYPEN through her unique tone and delicate sensibility.
The members' contributions also shone. Jake included his first self-composed song Sleep Tight, and participated in producing the narration track Incident's genesis. Sleep Tight sincerely captures the mix of happiness and anxiety found in a brief respite after fleeing, and the guilt and apology felt toward the partner who accompanied them on a harsh journey. Heeseung also contributed to part of the lyrics of this song.
