(Interview ④ continued) The production team of 'Culinary Class Wars2' denied unfounded rumors about Paik Jong-won, who joined as a judge.
On the morning of the 16th, a wrap-up interview for the Netflix variety show 'Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars season 2' was held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The interview was attended by director Kim Hak-min PD, Kim Eun PD and winner Choi Kang-rok chef.
'Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars season 2' is a cooking survival program that depicts a fierce culinary class war between underdog 'Black Spoon' chefs, hidden masters who try to overturn class by taste alone, and the country's top star chefs 'White Spoon' who try to protect it.
On that day, when Kim Hak-min PD was asked about being concerned over the various controversies that poured out about Paik Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, even before the broadcast aired, he explained, "Regarding judging and editing, we approached it with a balance as always so that it would be entertaining and something viewers can sufficiently accept."
Regarding whether Paik Jong-won would appear in season 3, he said cautiously, "Although season 3 has been announced, many things have not yet been decided, so it is difficult to comment on that. Who the judges will be and how that will be are matters the season 3 production team must consider."
He also actively denied allegations that Paik Jong-won was involved in producing 'Culinary Class Wars2'. He explained, "Because of the wording I used at the production press conference that 'Mr. Paik Jong-won chose us,' some unfounded rumors arose, such as 'CEO Paik Jong-won planned this program' or 'there is a connection with the production team.' To clarify that point, since among the judges Mr. Paik Jong-won was the first to be recruited for this program, if there is any sense of start, Chef Anh Sung-jae was recruited last, as the second. I meant it as a metaphor of start and finish."
Kim Hak-min PD said, "There seems to be a rumor that CEO Paik Jong-won planned 'Culinary Class Wars,' and that is something to correct," and added, "As always, we will consider viewers' reactions to seasons 1 and 2 and think about how season 3 can be more fun and how it can be a more complete season."
He also guarded his words about the controversies related to Paik Jong-won, saying, "There are parts that are difficult for us to comment on. We ask for your understanding," and added, "It is true he did his best as a judge. When evaluating the dishes, he also worked in a manner befitting a judge."
