The group ENHYPEN expressed their thoughts on collaborating with actor Park Jeongmin.
ENHYPEN recently held a release commemorative interview for their mini album 7 THE SIN : VANISH at a cafe in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and talked about the new album.
ENHYPEN's mini 7 this time is meticulously arranged with a total of 6 tracks, 4 narrations, and 1 skit (SKIT·drama). Each track closely follows the flow from the moment the vampire lovers decide to flee to the complex emotions they face at the end. The narrations and skit are dotted with devices that enhance the reality of the "mystery show," such as testimonies from citizens who witnessed the lovers and midroll advertisements, adding vividness.
In particular, it drew attention with a spectacular collaboration lineup including actor Park Jeongmin, Dynamic Duo's Gaeko, and Saesonyoon's Hwang Soyoon, and Park Jeongmin lent his voice as the "mystery show" host, giving weight to the album's narrative with a low, calm, understated narration.
The members said the concept may have felt difficult for listeners before, but this time with actor Park Jeongmin's participation it might have been more accessible to the public. They said that with Park Jeongmin and Japanese, Chinese and English narrations, listeners may feel as if a third party is introducing their album. They recommended listening to the album in order from start to finish.
Seonghun said he personally likes actor Park Jeongmin a lot and especially likes his acting. He said his performances are expressive and delicate. He said he was very happy when he heard Park Jeongmin would do their narration. He thought Park Jeongmin would be able to easily convey their potentially difficult story, and sure enough, he expressed the narration well this time, so he is satisfied, showing his fandom.
J said that unlike before, the members did not do the narration themselves because previously there were narrations; they had done them directly, but the main reason for working this way this time was to provide a shift in perspective. He said they have often expressed their thoughts through narration, but when the progressing story is viewed and interpreted from a third person's viewpoint, he thought listeners could feel more immersed. He said he was surprised and moved that each actor provided high-quality narrations in various languages.
In addition, Gaeko of Dynamic Duo, who has produced many hits, unraveled the lyrics of the album title track Knife and the album track Big Girls Don't Cry with his distinctive, sensuous language, and Hwang Soyoon of Saesonyoon, who featured on No Way Back, created rich harmony with ENHYPEN with her unique tone and delicate sensibility.
Heeseung expressed gratitude, saying he is thankful to the two senior artists. He said Gaeko senior sent a demo, but unfortunately they could not work together. He said Gaeko sent a guide that they worked with, and the guide was sent with a striking nasal tone. He said that just from that demo they got a big hint and were able to make a good recording.
He continued that senior Hwang Soyoon also featured this time. He said she is characterized by a very dreamy sound, with a haziness that comes from her falsetto. He said her prominent falsetto feature on their album track No Way Back resulted in a very cool song.
