Model-turned-actor Ahn Jae-hyeon self-deprecatingly joked about his divorce on Save Me! Homes, drawing laughter.
On the Jan. 15 broadcast of MBC variety show Save Me! Homes (shortened to Homes), Ahn Jae-hyeon met broadcaster Kim Dae-ho, a former announcer, and former national judo athlete Lee Seong-ho, who appeared as Young-chul on I'm SOLO, as clients and searched for homes for a single man in his 30s.
Especially on this episode of Homes, the client's dream house appeared: a luxury residence located in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul. This place, a very high-priced residence famous for its Han River view, had not only large units but also small units for single-person households.
Ahn Jae-hyeon said, "When I was going through a really hard time before, I stopped the car and looked at this place and wondered, 'Will I ever be able to buy that?' 'Will I be able to enjoy single life in my 50s in a place like that?'"
In response, Homes MC Kim Sook asked, "Why are you thinking about single life in your 50s?" and Ahn Jae-hyeon replied, "I think it's comfortable for me," drawing amused snorts. He wryly self-deprecated about his past marriage to actress Gu Hye-sun and the highly publicized divorce in 2020, which provoked laughter.
But the dream and reality were different. This place, with a gross floor area of 16 pyeong and a net area of 11 pyeong, had a deposit of 300 million won and a monthly rent reaching 4.5 million won. Including maintenance fees, the monthly housing cost alone was said to be 5 million won.
Kim Dae-ho told the client, "That's crazy," and "Get a grip, live in reality." Kim Sook also sharply advised, "You said the judo gym opened only a month ago, right? Then you should sleep at the judo gym. How can you realize a dream like that?" Kim Dae-ho repeatedly agreed and added, "That's right. The real dream is to endure the smell of sweat from the athletes and sleep on the mat in the judo gym after the students leave — that rough perseverance is the dream."
