Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet and reality star and businesswoman Kylie Jenner are reportedly in a relationship that is effectively like a married couple.
The U.S. entertainment outlet Daily Mail, citing Page Six on the 15th (local time), reported that Chalamet and Jenner have been cohabiting in Los Angeles for more than a year, and those around them say the two act as if they are already married.
According to the report, an insider said, "The two are completely infatuated with each other and are always together," adding, "Chalamet naturally gets along with Jenner's children, Stormi (7) and Aire (3), and lives like part of the family." Jenner had the two children from her relationship with rapper Travis Scott.
The report drew more attention because it came shortly after Chalamet referred to Jenner as his "partner" in his Golden Globe acceptance remarks. He said, "I send love to my parents and my partner. Thank you so much," and Jenner, who was in the audience, mouthed "I love you too," showing affection. The two also did not hide their affection for each other at the Critics' Choice Awards, where they displayed public physical affection.
Some have analyzed the public displays as an "intentional message." Psychologist Darren Stanton told the Daily Mail, "These public displays of affection are a strategy to imprint on the public that the relationship is actually stable and serious," and said, "They are also intended to block speculation and malicious rumors." Another relationship expert, Dr. Kasey Nickerson, also said, "For celebrity couples, dating is part of the brand beyond personal life," adding, "An image of a stable relationship positively affects credibility and business value."
Chalamet and Jenner were first linked romantically in April 2023, and in September of the same year they confirmed they were a public couple with a kiss at a Beyoncé concert. Although there were reports of breakups and reconciliations at times, recent consecutive public displays of affection at awards shows and reports of cohabitation have strengthened the interpretation that their relationship has become more solid.
Meanwhile, even though the two have been photographed together in public, they have strictly managed their private lives by not directly referring to each other on social media or on Jenner's family's reality show, The Kardashians. Some have observed that "Chalamet has minimized public exposure of his dating life to maintain a serious actor image."
