Lee Ji-hyun, formerly of the group Jewelry, flew 10,000 km for her son, who was diagnosed with ADHD.
On the 15th, Lee Ji-hyun posted on her social account, "If there is anything most desperately wanted in the world, it would be a child. Any parent would say that. However, few children live each day like a parent's heart and become like their parent," she said, opening up with difficulty.
Lee Ji-hyun said, "We change little by little as we grow. To help set the right direction and to truly raise the children better, I came 10,000 km with a desperate desire to learn starting with myself. There is nothing more precious to me than my children," she said, meeting Assistant Professor Jin Ah-yeong at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Lee Ji-hyun said, "I know it in theory, but a mother's impatience leads to constant nagging. 'Until respect and focus are fully achieved, nothing else is safe' — I simply and easily restructured my thinking with that," and added, "As soon as I met Professor Jin Ah-yeong, the doors of the children flung wide open, and they joyfully participated one by one in cooking they had never tried at home and even found difficult. The professor told me to give the children short, plain messages like 'I don't know,' 'I've never tried it,' and 'If you observe, the answer appears,' and to praise the mother a lot."
Lee Ji-hyun said, "I will engrave in my bones the things the professor says and the actions she shows with the children," saying she drew strength from that.
Meanwhile, Lee Ji-hyun has been raising her daughter and son alone after divorcing twice in 2016 and 2020. Lee Ji-hyun's son was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on the show "Golden Child," but after meeting Dr. Oh Eun-young he changed and is now recognized as a math prodigy. Recently he drew attention by winning the top prize at the HME competition.
