In episode 5 of the MBC Friday-Saturday drama The Judge Returns (planned by Namgoong Seong-woo and Chang Jae-hoon, written by Kim Kwang-min, directed by Lee Jae-jin and Park Mi-yeon), airing on the 16th at 9:50 p.m., Lee Han-young (played by Jisung) raises the tension as he separately confronts the judiciary's beast Kang Shin-jin (played by Park Hee-soon) and his henchman Kim Jin-han (played by Jung Hee-tae).
In last week's broadcast, Lee Han-young solved the "Park Hyuk-joon case," which had many grounds for legal dispute, in his own way, catching Kang Shin-jin's attention. After that case, Han-young formed a friendly relationship with Daejin Ilbo reporter Song Na-yeon (Baek Jin-hee) and rushed to help when her father, who worked at Gangcheon Palace, was accused of theft. Realizing that among the missing items was a ledger of military service irregularities that included the children of political and legal figures, Han-young struggled to find it, ultimately locating the ledger and exposing it, delivering a satisfying moment for viewers. Meanwhile, Kang Shin-jin, who knew that the son of the person he wanted to make chief justice was included in the ledger, was furious.
As Lee Han-young's bold actions have provoked Kang Shin-jin, a still released today on the 15th contains an unexpected meeting that heightens curiosity.
After revealing the ledger of military service irregularities to the world and shocking the judiciary, Han-young meets Kang Shin-jin alone at a restaurant for some reason. On the surface it seems like an ordinary meal, but their unreadable looks, each aware of the other, create a chilling atmosphere. Attention is focused on what conversation will pass between Lee Han-young and Kang Shin-jin, who have different objectives.
Meanwhile, Lee Han-young's unpredictable moves continue. He greatly unnerves Kim Jin-han, Kang Shin-jin's loyal subordinate, who came to see him over the ledger exposure. Jin-han, who had been maintaining composure, completely loses his pace at Han-young's words. Viewers are left wondering what Han-young's "ddolpan" moment that unbalanced Jin-han was, and what larger picture he is drawing.
