Premium storyteller group Studio Dragon (CEO Jang Kyung-ik) is teaming up with eco-friendly interior material specialist Hansol HomeDeco (CEO Kim Kyung-rok) to build eco-friendly drama production sites.
Studio Dragon said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hansol HomeDeco on the afternoon of the 14th at Studio Dragon's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Seoul, for the "recycling of drama set waste wood and establishment of an eco-friendly circular system."
Under the agreement, wood from drama sets produced by Studio Dragon will be remanufactured into medium density fiberboard (MDF) for interior use through Hansol HomeDeco's technology.
Studio Dragon said the agreement will allow it to pursue both environmental protection and cost efficiency. According to Studio Dragon's own estimate, about 100 tons of waste wood are generated on average from the production site of each drama. Previously, most wood was dismantled and discarded after filming ended, but going forward more than 2,000 tons of waste wood from Studio Dragon's filming sites alone will undergo a process of being reborn as eco-friendly wood. Through this, Studio Dragon expects to cut its existing waste wood dismantling and disposal expenses by about 50%.

A Studio Dragon official said, "This agreement is the industry's first attempt to efficiently handle waste wood generated during drama production and a meaningful step toward reusing waste wood as a resource," and added, "We will strengthen ESG cooperation with various industries to create a sustainable content production environment."
A Hansol HomeDeco official said, "This agreement is a practical example of ESG management that raises environmental value and industrial efficiency simultaneously through resource circulation," and added, "We are honored to establish a practical resource circulation model with a leading company in the content industry."
