"as expected, Blackpink is Blackpink." the 'k-pop queen' Blackpink, whom the world has been waiting for, is finally putting the finishing touch on a full-group comeback. Those who proved their unmatched class by already heating up global charts with the pre-release song "Jump (JUMP)" are now ready to reach the pinnacle of their firepower with a new mini album.
Blackpink's anticipation for this comeback is already sky-high. The performance of the full-group single "Jump (JUMP)", released last July, supports this. Despite a long 2 years and 10 months hiatus, Blackpink demonstrated their continued presence in the music industry by topping Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart and the Billboard Global 200 chart immediately upon release.
In particular, "Jump (JUMP)" confirmed Blackpink's boundless musical spectrum once again with the bold move into the hardstyle genre. On YouTube, it not only ranked No. 1 among the "most viewed videos within 24 hours" but also recorded their 49th video with over 100 million views, showcasing the stature of the "YouTube queen."
If "Jump (JUMP)" was the "prelude" that thrilled listeners around the world, the new album to be released in February is expected to be the "main game" that will fully imprint the weight of the name Blackpink.
YG Entertainment formalized the news of Blackpink's third mini album "DEADLINE" through its official blog on the 15th. This album is being released a full 3 years and 5 months after the full-length album BORN PINK in Sept.
The album title "DEADLINE" is the same as the title of the world tour Blackpink is currently holding across 16 cities for 33 shows. This is not a mere coincidence. It is the result that will crown the hot journey that connected with fans while painting stadiums pink around the world.
YG said on its side that it had finished major album work, including music video filming, early and has been painstakingly raising completeness to the maximum, adding "we will repay with high-quality music," which raised fans' heart rates.
Blackpink will meet global fans one last time before the comeback. They will perform for three days at Tokyo Dome from the 16th to the 18th, and then from the 24th to the 26th they will decorate the world tour's glamorous finale at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium.
The synergy the four members will produce again was already proven through "Jump (JUMP)." On stage, Blackpink is itself a brand and a genre. Blackpink, which will both cap the world tour and write new history, is set to once again dye the world pink with the glittering return of the 'k-pop queen' on Feb. 27.
