Chinese top star Tan Jian Ci is making a comeback with his third solo album after about a year and a half.
Tan Jian Ci (Tan Jian Ci, 檀健次, Tan Jian Ci) will simultaneously release the pre-release track "DEAD REFLEX" from his third solo album at 12 p.m. on the 16th (Korean time) on music sites worldwide including Korea. Notably, a large number of top K-pop staff from home and abroad participated, drawing attention.
First, Tan Jian Ci visited Korea for work on this new song. He underwent intensive choreography training in Korea last month and filmed a performance video. Having steadily expanded his global recognition as an actor by gaining high popularity in overseas markets through recent works such as the dramas drama "Zhang Shang Shi" and drama "Female Police Officer," many domestic and international fans reportedly flocked to Korea during his visit. Also, photos and videos from the scene quickly spread across major Korean social networks, and at the same time rose on several Chinese charts and trending keywords, drawing great interest.
Even before its release, the production of this new song attracted attention with the participation of world-class producers. Among them were Lindgren, who worked on BTS's "ON" and "Boy With Luv," James Abrahart (JHart), who collaborated with Justin Bieber and Usher, and Melanie Fontana, among other global production staff, raising the level of completion. Within the framework of mature pop music, they infused Tan Jian Ci's distinctive emotions and modes of expression, building a clear and unique musical color.
The performance video for "DEAD REFLEX," which is drawing attention in the Asian music market along with the song, was directed by Lee Han-gyeol, who has worked with Blackpink and EXO. It is characterized by visually unfolding an apocalyptic worldview and the philosophical perspective of the Carnica triangle. It realized Tan Jian Ci's dramatic acting and theatrical performance with cinematic visual beauty.
The performance choreography was directed by In-gyu, a core member of WEDAMBOYS (WDBZ), a dance crew representing Korea. In-gyu is a talented creator who has produced stages for top K-pop artists such as G-Dragon and Jennie. In this song, Tan Jian Ci showcased his capabilities as an artist by presenting a dynamic mega crew performance.
This project is expected to be regarded as one of the representative cases of Korea-China music production collaboration. As exchanges within the Asian music market continue to expand, collaboration between Chinese artists and Korean production staff shows the practical possibilities of cross-border joint creation. Also, "DEAD REFLEX" is expected to become an important turning point as Tan Jian Ci actively expands his activities into the Asian music market.
Meanwhile, Tan Jian Ci's new song "DEAD REFLEX" was first released across China on Dec. 31 last year as the second pre-release track and received a hot response by sweeping No. 1 on major charts of China's largest music platform QQ Music and ranking high in real-time search terms immediately after its release. The first pre-release track "PROOF" also competes for first and second place with this new song on QQ Music's major charts.
