'Comedian Park Na-rae's absence from her 'close friend' Kim Ji-min's wedding has sparked renewed speculation about the reasons. The disclosure by a former manager during conflicts with her former agency, JDB Entertainment, kindled the controversy.
On the 13th, Park Na-rae's former manager, Mr. A, released a lengthy statement saying, "Claims that differ from the facts are being repeated." The statement included 'the truth about the dawn meeting', 'the core of the agreement', 'the four major social insurance subscription issue', 'career distortion' and other detailed disputes, along with a rebuttal directed at the salon owner who recently testified that "there was no abuse of power." Mr. A claimed that Park Na-rae sent messages such as "what do you need besides money," showing insincere attitudes, and denied most of the content of the recorded phone calls.
A particularly notable passage was the claim of an 'attempted recording' during the contract renewal phase. Mr. A alleged, "At the time of renegotiation with JDB, they demanded recordings, saying to expose Park OO's weakness so that Park Na-rae could gain a favorable position." He said he delivered the recording to Park Na-rae and Park Na-rae's boyfriend and that he is still holding it. Mr. A added that he took on roles from on-site manager to team leader and Deputy Minister, and that Park Na-rae was satisfied with those roles.
When this claim became known, the reasons why Park Na-rae missed both Kim Ji-min's wedding and the wedding photo shoot came back into question. Park Na-rae missed the photo shoot citing a theft at her home, and later did not appear at the wedding held at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. At the time, about 400 of the roughly 1,200 guests were celebrities, attracting attention.
Park Na-rae reportedly explained her reasons for not attending to the parties involved and delivered a generous wedding gift. At the time, her agency only said, "It is a personal matter, so it is difficult to verify." However, with this disclosure, some interpret that the absence may be linked to a sensitive conflict with JDB rather than a simple personal matter.
The Park OO mentioned by the former manager is presumed to be the CEO of JDB Entertainment. Although the person whose weakness was to be exposed was not identified as a specific individual, speculation and expanded interpretations about who founded JDB have continued.
