Actor Hwang Shin-hye revealed her younger brother, who became a mouth-and-foot painter after becoming fully paralyzed.
On the afternoon of the 14th, on KBS1 variety show Hwang Shin-hye's Let's Live Together, Hwang Shin-hye mentioned her younger brother, who became fully paralyzed 30 years ago in an unfortunate accident.
Jang Yoon Jeong said, "When I'm not working, I paint as a hobby. During a difficult time after my divorce, a friend brought me out into the world, and thanks to that friend I started," praising her surprisingly high-level painting skills. She had been immersed in minhwa work for seven years and was active as a minhwa artist.
At that time Hwang Shin-hye revealed, "My younger brother paints. He was in an accident and injured his neck, and he became fully paralyzed then. He paints with his mouth."
Astonished, Jang Yoon Jeong and Jung Ga-eun asked, "When did that happen?" and Hwang Shin-hye recalled the accident that occurred 30 years ago, saying, "He became that way when he was 29. It was a long time ago."
Jang Yoon Jeong and Jung Ga-eun asked, "Even though he paints with his mouth, is it similar to that picture?" and Hwang Shin-hye explained, "They are called mouth-and-foot painters. She said it's extremely difficult just to hold a brush in the mouth."
Mouth-and-foot painters refer to amputee or paralyzed artists who paint with their mouths or feet. Hwang Shin-hye's younger brother overcame physical limits and paints with his mouth; he is mouth-and-foot painter Hwang Jeong-eon. After seeing Hwang Jeong-eon's actual works, Jang Yoon Jeong exclaimed, "I'm speechless. I don't compare," expressing admiration.
