'Actor Kang Eun-bi announced the loss of her pregnancy at 21 weeks, drawing widespread sympathy.'
Kang Eun-bi cautiously revealed the miscarriage in a video she released on her YouTube channel on the 15th titled "Five months that were short and long, 21 weeks, farewell to Sansam. I love you, baby," saying, "At 21 weeks, Sansam became a little star," and calmly recounted the process of parting with the child on Jan. 3.
Kang Eun-bi said, "On the 20 weeks and 2 days ultrasound, I was told that the amniotic fluid had decreased, and during the examination it was judged that the amniotic fluid was leaking, so I was transferred to a higher-level hospital," and added, "All tests had been normal and I had been feeling fetal movements well, so I thought it was simply a problem from overwork."
However, two days after being hospitalized she was diagnosed with an amniotic fluid level of zero, and early rupture of membranes was suspected. She stayed on absolute bed rest waiting to recover, but the amniotic fluid never refilled. She said, "The baby's position became increasingly unstable, and after being told we had to consider terminating the pregnancy, we transferred to a larger hospital."
Kang Eun-bi said, "The baby was lying sideways and pressed closely against the placenta, and I was told the lungs could no longer develop. Hearing that the baby was barely holding on in a confined space, everything collapsed," and added, "Upon hearing that, due to my ignorance I could not accept that the baby was enduring pain, and ultimately I had no choice but to accept that I would have to let Sansam go on the day I reached 21 weeks."
After the video was released, warm messages of condolence continued in the comments and online communities. Kang Eun-bi and Byun Jun-pil married last April after 17 years of dating, and in September of the same year they announced a natural pregnancy at age 40, receiving many congratulations. The sudden tragedy has prompted the public to send quiet support and deep sorrow.
