Comedian Im Lala confessed to the shocking struggle that ranged from in vitro fertilization to life-or-death moments after childbirth on The Return of SUPERMAN.
On the 14th episode aired on KBS 2TV's The Return of SUPERMAN ('The Return of SUPERMAN'), MC Kim Jongmin and Lalali appeared together in the "birth of the visual twins" episode.
Im Lala recalled the time of in vitro fertilization she began in her early 30s and candidly said, "It was really harder than I thought." After endless waiting she welcomed the joy of a twin pregnancy, but severe morning sickness that began at five weeks of pregnancy tormented her.
What troubled Im Lala most was 'pruritus of pregnancy.' She suffered from painful red spots all over her body, but she could not use medicine for the sake of the babies in her womb. She had to give birth with her immunity completely depleted, which eventually led to the tragedy of postpartum hemorrhage.
The testimony of her husband Son Minsu, who was at the scene at the time, was even more shocking. Son Minsu recounted the tense moment, saying, "I was sitting in a chair and the chair was soaked with blood. When I looked down the hallway Lala had passed through, it was like a murder scene hallway with blood everywhere."
In particular, Son Minsu recalled a mysterious sound he heard from the bathroom and said, "I thought it was the sound of running water because I heard water sounds, but it turned out not to be water but the sound of blood flowing," which shocked everyone. He choked up as he conveyed his grim feelings, saying, "When I opened the door, my wife had collapsed. I know you shouldn't think like this, but I thought, 'she is really dying.'"
Im Lala was immediately rushed to the emergency room, but the situation was critical. Son Minsu added, "During the 40 minutes it took to get to the hospital, Lala fainted about 10 times," hinting at how serious her condition was at the time.<
