'Anh Sung-jae YouTube' Anh Sung-jae, who sparked controversy over the Dubai jjondeuk cookie, responded with feedback in a new video.
On the 14th, Anh Sung-jae's YouTube channel released a video titled "Responding to the uproar: Anh Sung-jae provides A/S for dudtakgangduranmal." In December, Anh Sung-jae made Dubai jjondeuk cookies with his children and proceeded with the process according to his interpretation, which upset his daughter Si-young. Many comments pointed out Anh Sung-jae's behavior, half jokingly.
Anh Sung-jae asked his daughter, "We are going to perform the recipe A/S for the first time. You're the subject of the A/S, not an angry expression, right? We're on good terms, right?" Anh Sung-jae added, "I didn't know what dujjonkku was. I hadn't tried it. I didn't know it would get this much attention," and said, "A guest at Mosu asked, 'When will you make dujjonkku?' and one guest even brought dujjonkku for Si-young. So we decided to do an A/S," noting that the guests' reactions were significant.
The production staff asked Si-young, "People left comments — how was it?" Si-young said, "I was grateful that 13,000 people talked about me," and added, "I remember a comment that said, 'If that's the case, why did Edward Lee drop the bibimbap?'" She also said with a smile, "I remember a comment saying, 'I asked for chicken but you made baeksuk (boiled chicken).' Thirteen thousand people are supporting me."
Anh Sung-jae said, "Because I didn't know what dujjonkku was, from a father's perspective, marshmallow-heavy foods aren't really good to eat, so I wanted to make a snack Si-young hadn't tried," and added, "Today I'll adjust it the way Si-young wants," while watching his daughter's reaction.
Anh Sung-jae worried, "Won't it be a little sweet?" but Si-young replied, "No, add more," and with her own method they made the filling and exterior ingredients for the Dubai jjondeuk cookie. Anh Sung-jae, somewhat humbled, worked enthusiastically as an assistant chef, saying, "Are you confident? I was confident when I made hard things too. As a chef, it's been a while since I've felt discouraged about making something."
Anh Sung-jae asked again, "There must be a marshmallow-to-chocolate ratio. Should I try?" but Si-young refused flatly, "No, by feel." Anh Sung-jae admitted his mistake anew, saying, "I thought about it. There are crunchy cookies — it shouldn't have been that hard. It seems the marshmallow was cooked too much. Even if it was less cooked, instead of waiting for it all to melt, what if we put it in earlier after it softened a bit? There's that."
When Si-young finally tasted the perfectly finished dujjonkku, she beamed. She pleased Anh Sung-jae by saying, "It's tastier than the ones sold." Anh Sung-jae, coaxing his daughter, said, "How is it tasty? Look me in the eye and tell me," then laughed happily, saying, "I hope the commenters are very satisfied. Controversy closed!"
