Model Han Hye-jin shocked viewers with severe forward head posture.
On the 15th, Han Hye-jin posted a video titled "The current state of the neck of a 27-year veteran fashion model" on her personal YouTube channel. In the released video, Han Hye-jin visited a hospital complaining of neck pain she had endured for two years.
Han Hye-jin told the doctor about the severe pain starting from her neck and had X-rays and other images taken. The doctor, looking at the images, diagnosed, "The pain can only get worse. It's a reverse curve. A normal neck is c-shaped, but this is not a straight neck; it's a reverse curve. Because there is forward head posture, there will inevitably be upper back and cervical headaches."
Fortunately, the nerve foramen itself has not narrowed, so there should be no hand numbness. The doctor said, "If a cervical disc worsens, the nerve is compressed and hand numbness worsens. Depending on the severity, surgery or injections are performed. Because her neck is long, she is the type prone to forward head posture. A long neck is more likely to be weaker. Don't fighters have short, sturdy necks?"
Worried, Han Hye-jin asked, "Can it return to normal?" The doctor replied, "Because the degenerative changes are not severe, correcting daily habits will work. If you must sleep on your side, raise the pillow and place a towel or something between your legs to create a straight line. Even if you get out of alignment while sleeping, you should do it that way."
In addition, Han Hye-jin also had shoulder impingement syndrome. She needs shoulder rotator cuff strengthening exercises and should avoid sleeping on her side or doing push-ups. The doctor strongly said, "Prone positions are deadly for forward head posture." However, Han Hye-jin lamented, "I normally can't sleep unless I lie on my side. I also want to lie flat and look at the ceiling when I sleep." The doctor pointed out, "You can't change it overnight; you've lived like that for more than 40 years, so you have to make an effort."
In the end, Han Hye-jin underwent intensive exercise therapy, including physical therapy and daily exercises. The therapist also added concern for Han Hye-jin's usual neck health, saying, "I haven't seen everything, but I saw you exercising. I wish you wouldn't pull your chin in too much when doing back exercises."
