'Spring Fever' is filling living rooms with excitement and laughter this cold winter by presenting a romantic comedy that stands out for its clever humor and unpredictable developments.
The tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Spring Fever," airing every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. (directed by Park Won-guk / written by Kim A-jeong / planned by CJ ENM STUDIOS / produced by Bon Factory), is a hot! pink romance of spring that will melt the frozen hearts of teacher Yoon Bom (played by Lee Joo-been), who faces chilly winds, and the fiery-hearted man Seon Jae-gyu (played by Ahn Bo-hyun). Along with the actors' performances, which show high synchronicity, the sweet direction of director Park Won-guk, whom viewers trust, blends to create a delightful synergy.
As proof of this, the viewership rating for episode 3, which aired on the 12th (Monday), recorded a nationwide paid platform peak of 6.2% when combining cable, IPTV and satellite, and household ratings marked an all-time high. tvN's target 20-49 viewership rating ranked first across all channels in the same time slot, including terrestrial broadcasters, both nationwide and in the Seoul metropolitan area, solidifying its position as a new Monday-Tuesday drama powerhouse. After the broadcast, viewers poured out praise such as "I can't think of anything else while watching and I keep laughing, which I like," "Yoon Bom's startled '~suh?' way of speaking is addictive," "I love this cheesy, comic rom-com," "a proper rom-com has appeared since the start of the year," and "the relationships here are also top-tier." We looked at three relationships to watch closely going forward.
#Seon Jae-gyu and Yoon Bom without push-and-pull, will Bom-sik's existence usher in a new phase?!
Yoon Bom, a voluntarily self-described outsider teacher, naturally began to become entangled with Seon Han-gyeol (played by Cho Junyoung), who is Seon Jae-gyu's nephew. Yoon Bom tried hard not to be swept up by the straightforward Seon Jae-gyu, but the more she saw him, the more he, a bundle of charm, kept breaking her seals and elicited laughter. When the rescued abandoned dog Bom-sik that Seon Jae-gyu saved appears, Yoon Bom inadvertently becomes Bom-sik's guardian, and the two grow closer through Bom-sik. As time passes, the direction of their deepening relationship arouses curiosity.
#A love-hate relationship between Seon Han-gyeol and Choi Se-jin over the top student spot
Seon Jae-gyu's nephew Seon Han-gyeol and Choi Se-jin (played by Lee Jaein), the younger sibling of Choi Yi-joon (played by Cha Seo Won), are competing for the top student position at Sinsu High School. Choi Se-jin, who transferred from Seoul, has unexpectedly run into a wall in the form of the unshakable top student Seon Han-gyeol. In response, Seon Han-gyeol showed subtle consideration by offering Choi Se-jin study tips, and Choi Se-jin was puzzled whether this was goodwill or ill intent, creating a strange tension. In that process, ahead of the sports day, Seon Han-gyeol revealed a pure, high-school-age sentiment by saying to Choi Se-jin, "You asked me before. Is my feeling toward you goodwill or ill intent? You'll find out the answer after today's sports day," raising expectations for the next episode.
#Former close friends → current rivals Seon Jae-gyu and Choi Yi-joon's rivalry chemistry
Seon Jae-gyu and Choi Yi-joon used to be close friends but now, whenever they meet, they clash, driving the story with excitement. Choi Yi-joon searched for Seon Jae-gyu for more than 10 years, and their story gradually surfaced after they unexpectedly reunited on the Seoul subway. In particular, at Sinsu High School's major festival, the sports day, Seon Jae-gyu and Choi Yi-joon participate as parent representatives for Seon Han-gyeol and Choi Se-jin respectively, and the contrasting charms of the rugged, fatal-attraction macho and the visual elite straight out of a romantic comic provide viewing pleasure.
At the end of episode 4, thinking Yoon Bom was on the blue team, Seon Jae-gyu declared surrender in front of his rival Choi Yi-joon, saying, "If I take part in this sports day, I'll go to the military one more time! I'll eat only vegetables at the samgyeopsal restaurant and not eat meat. For the rest of my life, I'll call you 'jagiya,'" but contrary to the news he heard from his nephew Seon Han-gyeol, when Seon Jae-gyu finds out that Yoon Bom is actually on the white team and thus the same team as him, anticipation rises over what choice he will make and over the heartwarming stories set in the seaside village and the changes in their relationships.
The stress-zero (ZERO) drama that makes you smile throughout, the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama "Spring Fever," episode 5 will air on Monday the 19th at 8:50 p.m.
