SEVENTEEN subunit 'Mevoze' Dokyeom X Seungkwan's new song 'Blue' music video is gaining word-of-mouth among music fans for its strong immersion, and lead actors Iyoomi and Noh Sang Hyun revealed viewing points.
The two said on the 14th through HYBE music group label PLEDIS Entertainment Co., "I was happy to be able to participate in the work of an artist I usually like. It was joyful and meaningful to express the deep sensibility of 'Blue' through video," adding, "The members came to the set and cheered us on, which made the atmosphere even better," they said in an afterword.
The 'Blue' cinema version music video dramatizes the story of a man (Noh Sang Hyun) who carries a deep shadow due to an almost insurmountable wound and a woman (Iyoo) who loves him but increasingly grows tired, in a dramatized form. Fans responded to the video that combined Dokyeom X Seungkwan's pleading voices, the two actors' passionate performances, and beautiful direction. Riding that momentum, the work entered the YouTube "daily popular music video" rankings in Korea, Japan and Canada.
Iyoo, who played a woman who drifts away to distant places without realizing it, said, "I focused on expressing the music's delicate emotional line. I wanted to convey the loneliness that isn't filled even when with someone and the sincere self that appears when alone." She added, "If you immerse yourself in each character's emotions while watching, you can feel a deeper aftertaste."
Noh Sang Hyun moved viewers by playing a man who remains in place unable to overcome trauma after a car accident. He said, "The story line of the work was very attractive," and explained the viewing point: "The music video briefly shows montages of when the two protagonists were happy. It would be better if you focus on the lovers' appearances then and their current relationship."
According to the agency, Dokyeom X Seungkwan visited the set during the music video shoot to give the actors gifts and words of encouragement. Behind-the-scenes stills released the day before capture the four in a warm, friendly mood, suggesting a cordial atmosphere. Dokyeom X Seungkwan responded, "The actors' deep expressiveness seems to have blended with our sensibility to produce good results," and added, "We thank the two who showed wonderful acting once again."
Released on the 12th, 'Blue' has received praise as "a song you'll return to every winter," showing the resilience of a classic ballad. Prior to the track's release, the vocal challenge posted earlier surpassed 160 million cumulative views, and challenges featuring vocal masters such as Davichi's Lee Haeri, Lee Mujin and Younha were released sequentially, drawing attention. It has also begun to chart overseas. 'Blue' entered the iTunes "Top Songs" chart top 10 in 12 countries/regions immediately after its release and ranked high on the "Worldwide iTunes Song" chart for two consecutive days.
