Broadcaster Hyun Joo-yeop of 'Dad and I season 3' revealed the harrowing life he had to endure and the collapsed condition of his family after the preferential treatment controversy.
On the 14th, the TV CHOSUN variety program 'Dad and I season 3' aired a story about the Hyun Joo-yeop father and son whose communication had been severed.
Hyun Joo-yeop appeared noticeably gaunt after the controversy, surprising everyone. He said, "At my peak I weighed 137kg, but after the incident I lost all appetite and lost 15kg in one month, and in total I lost about 40kg," suggesting the extreme emotional distress he had endured.
Hyun Joo-yeop's health condition was serious. He confessed to severe anxiety symptoms and sleep disorders, saying, "If I don't take medicine I cannot sleep. In the morning I take about six pills to help me wake, and in the evening including sedatives and sleeping pills I take 14 to 15 pills, for a total of 21 pills a day." He added, sadly, that not only he but the whole family depended on psychiatric medication.
What touched viewers' hearts most was the confession of his son Jun-hee, a first-year high school student. Jun-hee, once a promising basketball prospect, is currently on leave from school and has even quit basketball.
Jun-hee said, "After my father's incident, troublemaking students came and mocked me, saying 'your dad is like this,'" explaining the decisive reason for taking a leave. Jun-hee went on to say, "I suffered from insomnia, shortness of breath and nightmares, and even had really bad thoughts," conveying his shocking state of mind. As his son's condition worsened, Hyun Joo-yeop bowed his head while recounting the urgent situation in which he had to have Jun-hee hospitalized for treatment four times.
