It has been 10 years since Hollywood actor Alan Rickman died.
On Jan. 14, 2016, local time, Alan Rickman died of cancer at his home in London, England, after battling the disease, and it was reported that his family and friends were by his side when he died. He was 69.
Alan Rickman was well known worldwide for his performance as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series and was a famous actor who also appeared in the Die Hard series.
When news of his death spread, colleagues each expressed condolences for Alan Rickman's death on their social media and conveyed deep sorrow.
The deceased is familiar to us as Professor Snape, but in fact left behind many masterpieces and memorable characters. Mourning the late Alan Rickman, we looked at five of his works and characters that left unforgettable performances (based on The Hollywood Reporter).
#1. "Die Hard" (1988)
Before becoming familiar as "Professor Snape," he drew attention by appearing in the famous Die Hard series. In Die Hard, released in 1988, Alan Rickman played the main villain who had no hesitation about killing people and made his presence felt. Die Hard was Alan Rickman's film debut and his Hollywood debut.
#2. "Robin Hood" (1991)
In the 1991 film Robin Hood, Alan Rickman also transformed into a villain and left a strong impression. Playing the magistrate of Nottingham, Alan Rickman added fun to the film as the antagonist who obstructs Robin's plans. In particular, Alan Rickman not only underwent a physical transformation befitting a villain in this work, but the film also helped cement his reputation as an actor who could do action.
#3. "Dogma" (1999)
Dogma, released in 1999, deals with the story of two fallen angels who were exiled to Earth for breaking heaven's rules. Alan Rickman played Metatron, the spokesperson of heaven. Playing an angel in the literal sense, Alan Rickman left an impression with his eloquence as the mouthpiece conveying the voice of God, moving the protagonist's heart. The sight of him dramatically spreading his wings was a bonus.
#4. "Galaxy Quest" (1999)
Galaxy Quest tells the story of washed-up TV stars who become real space warriors. Alan Rickman played Alexander Dane. In particular, Galaxy Quest left behind one of Alan Rickman's famous lines, and co-star Tim Allen, upon hearing the news of his death, expressed his condolences and demonstrated their enduring friendship.
#5. "Sweeney Todd" (2007)
In Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, Alan Rickman displayed his hidden singing talent. Again playing a villain, Alan Rickman portrayed Judge Turpin and sang "Pretty Woman" together with Johnny Depp.
