Actress Kang Eun-bi revealed why she has not registered her marriage to husband Byun Jun-pil even after their wedding, drawing sympathy.
On the 13th episode of the tvN Joy variety show Kim Chang-ok Show4, various stories were introduced under the theme "uncomfortable cohabitation, let's break up." That day Kang Eun-bi appeared as a contributor with her husband Byun Jun-pil and candidly shared the honest concerns she has experienced in married life.
Kang Eun-bi described her connection with Byun Jun-pil, saying, "We met on the same ulzzang cafe and were classmates at Seoul Institute of the Arts," and added, "We dated since college and dreamed of becoming actors together." A former member of the nation's top five ulzzang, Kang Eun-bi said, "My husband was also from the ulzzang scene. I was in the second generation at the same cafe, and my husband was in the fourth," which surprised the audience.
The two, after a long 17-year relationship, tied the knot in April last year, but they have not yet registered their marriage. Regarding this, Byun Jun-pil expressed hurt over being addressed only by name after the wedding and over the fact that the marriage registration has not been completed.
Kang Eun-bi candidly explained the reason. She confessed, "Even after marriage, comments kept appearing like, 'He married a homewrecker,' 'Why did he marry a dirty woman,' 'It's pitiful that he married a delisted-stock woman,'" and added, "If we register the marriage, I felt like I would become a burden on my husband's life, so I couldn't make the decision easily."
She continued, "When we were dating I used to say, 'Jun-pil, you can just run away. I'm someone who can live alone,'" and confessed, "Even though we're married, that feeling hasn't completely disappeared," adding to the sadness.
The cast fell silent at Kang Eun-bi's confession, and viewers have responded, "It's so cruel that malicious comments can determine one person's life decision," and "I hope the two can be happy without scars."
Meanwhile, Kang Eun-bi and Byun Jun-pil married in April last year after 17 years of dating.
