'Undercover Miss Hong' offers a special womance by depicting the coexistence of the roommates in dormitory room 301, which will become another source of the drama's fun.
The new tvN Saturday-Sunday drama 'Undercover Miss Hong' (directed by Park Seon-ho, written by Moon Hyun-kyung), scheduled to premiere on the 17th, is an office comedy drama set at the end of the 1990s, about a 30-year-old elite securities inspector Hong Geum-bo (Park Shinhye) who, after tracing suspicious funds to a securities firm, disguises herself as a 20-year-old entry-level employee at that firm and experiences a series of chaotic office events.
The meeting of the box-office queen Park Shinhye and tvN, along with standout actors such as Go Kyung-pyo, Ha Yoon-Kyung and Cho Han-gyeol, and director Park Seon-ho, who directed 'Greasy Melo', 'Business Proposal' and 'Suspicious Partner', has been drawing attention, and with only three days left until the first broadcast of 'Undercover Miss Hong', set in Yeouido at the end of the 1990s, the relationships among the roommates in room 301, each hiding different secrets, are emerging as another point of interest in the drama.
In episode 301 of the Seoul dormitory for unmarried female workers, four roommates with different backgrounds and purposes gather. Hong Geum-bo, a 35-year-old elite securities inspector who secretly obtained Hanmin Securities's slush fund ledger and went undercover as a 20-year-old entry-level employee to identify the whistleblower 'Yepi', struggles every day to avoid revealing her identity. To find clues about 'Yepi', Hong Geum-bo even undergoes dormitory life; outwardly she is indistinguishable from a fresh young employee, but at moments of crisis she displays exceptional perceptiveness and charisma, arousing curiousity among her roommates.
Go Bok-hee (Ha Yoon-Kyung), the executive secretary to the president of Hanmin Securities and the 'big sister' of room 301, is seasoned at corporate life but harbors a secret, audacious ambition beneath a diligently built career. Her true intentions, hidden behind a pragmatic exterior, are secrets she cannot easily share even with her roommates. As both a roommate and a senior at the company to Hong Geum-bo, Go Bok-hee is someone Hong must win over to get information, but because Go Bok-hee also has her own dreams she desperately wants to achieve, she engages in unseen psychological games.
Kang No-ra (Choi Ji-su) is also one of the people who entered room 301 hiding her true identity. Having lived overseas for a long time so that English comes out first in urgent moments, Kang No-ra is the daughter of the chairman of Hanmin Securities and has entered the company while concealing her status to live as a new employee. Kim Mi-sook (Kang Chae-young), noted as a friendly employee thanks to an extraordinary memory that never forgets a face or a name once seen, carefully looks after the roommates and grows close to them, but she too is said to be hiding an unspeakable secret, piquing curiosity. Thus, the cohabitation of the four people, who began without fully knowing each other's identities, brings about various small and large happenings, and as they collide in daily life while wearing masks, they gradually become supports for one another.
The four women hiding their identities, the '301 roommates', will sometimes provide laughter and sometimes moving empathy as they complete a womance never seen before. The lively and spirited episodes created by four people with completely different personalities and backgrounds, and the deep friendship they build within them, are expected to add another layer of enjoyment to 'Undercover Miss Hong'.
