"A divorced single" Hong Jin Kyung returned and burned with an academic zeal for dating.
On the 14th at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul, the Netflix 'Single's Inferno' season 5 press conference was held. The event was attended by PD Kim Jaewon, PD Park Suji, Hong Jin Kyung, Lee Da-hee, Kyuhyun, Hanhae, and Dex.
'Single's Inferno,' which will be released worldwide on the 20th, is a dating reality show of singles unfolding on a remote island, 'Jigokdo,' that contestants can only leave if they form a couple. Starting with its first season in 2021 and continuing its global buzz, 'Single's Inferno,' which proved itself the undisputed leader of dating reality, returns for a fifth season with even hotter singles.
When asked about her thoughts on 'modern dating' that she learned about through this season, Hong Jin Kyung said, "In previous seasons it was a world unrelated to me. I watched it like watching a spectacle, but now it relates to me a lot. Things like flirting, I'm in a position to learn. I took a very long break from dating. I was able to immerse myself more as a participant's mindset, and I learned a lot," drawing attention.
She continued, "The kids don't hold back at all. Image or whatever aside, seeing their truly honest selves, I watched as if I returned to being a student," which drew laughter.
When asked about how her perspective on dating has changed over the seasons, she added, "What I felt is that a cast member's first appearance is so beautiful. Everyone cheers, enchanted by that beauty. But then you watch that person's attitude or way of speaking until the end, and in some cases you were disappointed. Conversely, sometimes things you didn't notice made them look cooler through their attitude. It's not that my ideal type changed so much as I realized that if we don't just focus on looks but show maturity in various ways, we can appeal to the opposite sex."
Meanwhile, Hong Jin Kyung married a businessman five years her senior in 2003 and had one daughter, but in August she announced an agreed divorce after 22 years of marriage.
