Actor Kang Eun-bi opened up about why she has not yet registered her marriage despite being pregnant.
On the 13th, Kang Eun-bi appeared as an audience member on the tvN variety show "Kim Chang-ok Show 4," where she candidly shared the story from a long relationship to marriage and the couple's concerns.
That day Kang Eun-bi said, "I am currently 12 weeks pregnant," and added, "I've eaten a lot so I'm a little chubby," giving a recent update. She said her husband, Byeon Jun-pil, was a classmate at Seoul Institute of the Arts, and that after dating for 17 years since college they tied the knot in April last year.
However, even after a long relationship and marriage, there were still unresolved concerns between the two. Byeon Jun-pil confessed, "I don't really understand my wife's feelings," and said, "She has almost no aegyo, and it still feels like we treat each other formally." He expressed regret, adding, "For terms of address, instead of 'yeobo' or 'jagi,' we still call each other by name."
In particular, Byeon Jun-pil mentioned the issue of registering their marriage, saying, "We wanted to be legally recognized as a married couple, but we haven't done it yet. I didn't know the reason, so it was frustrating."
In response, Kang Eun-bi cautiously revealed the reasons she had hesitated to register the marriage. She said, "Because of past works I saw comments like 'are you marrying a homewrecker?', 'why marry a dirty woman?', 'it's pathetic to marry a delisted-woman,'" and confessed, "I felt that if I registered the marriage I would become a burden in my husband's life."
Kang Eun-bi revealed that during their relationship she repeatedly said things like, "You can run away anytime," and "I'm someone who can live alone and be fine." She said, "Even after getting married and becoming pregnant, that feeling didn't completely disappear," and added, "The person who helped me overcome that was Jun-pil."
After hearing his wife's story, Byeon Jun-pil expressed remorse, saying, "I understand now," and the two spent time understanding each other.
Meanwhile, Kang Eun-bi became pregnant in September last year. The fetal nickname is "Sansam-i," and she explained, "It expresses the joy of a natural pregnancy after three months and the wish for the baby to grow healthily." Kang Eun-bi recently shared on social media the emotion of hearing the baby's heartbeat for the first time, saying, "It sounded vigorous, like a train running."
Viewers continue to send support as the Kang Eun-bi couple, who faced long-accumulated wounds and misunderstandings, prepare to face what changes a new life will bring.
