Actor Hwang Bo-ra visited a fertility clinic to try for a second pregnancy and received a shocking diagnosis.
On the 13th, a video released on the YouTube channel "Hwang Bora Variety" showed Hwang Bo-ra visiting a fertility clinic to plan for a second child.
That day Hwang Bo-ra said about the reason she planned for a second child, Iyoo "I thought Woo-in might feel a little lonely. I grew up as an only daughter with no brothers, so actually when things are happy it doesn't matter. But when you're sad, struggling, or having a hard time, siblings are essential."
Hwang Bo-ra said "I came straight away (without trying to get pregnant)," and after the examination the doctor said "(it's) the same situation as the first time." In particular, Hwang Bo-ra was shocked to hear that her ovarian function had declined compared with her first pregnancy, and the doctor mentioned follicle-stimulating hormone, saying, "In the old terminology it's called premature menopause. The levels came out at a range where premature menopause could progress."
He continued, "When you look at patients, suddenly in the next cycle the level falls while follicles grow. It will go into a completely different pattern. They may grow very late."
Accordingly, Hwang Bo-ra was prescribed female hormone medication, and the doctor worried, "The average menopausal age for Korean women is 51 in full years. Hwang Bo-ra is 42. She still has 10 years left, but her female hormone levels are already low," adding, "Later she will have an increased risk of osteoporosis and cardiovascular issues."
When the results were not good, Hwang Bo-ra lamented, "This month seems like the worst. I wonder if I'm doing this out of greed, and I'm so busy that my condition isn't good. It's hard to care for Woo-in and I'm working too."
She added, "I won't give up on what I've started," but also revealed mixed feelings, saying, "I wonder if I should be satisfied living seeing only Woo-in."
Meanwhile, Hwang Bo-ra married Cha Hyun-woo, the son of actor Kim Yong-gun and the brother of Ha Jung-woo, in 2022, and they have one son.
