Dad and I season 3 broadcaster Hyun Joo-yeop shared the current condition of his family, left in ruins after the preferential treatment controversy.
On the 14th, the TV CHOSUN variety program 'Dad and I season 3' aired a story about the father-and-son relationship of Hyun Joo-yeop, in which communication had been cut off.
Hyun Joo-yeop appeared markedly gaunt after the controversy. He revealed, "At my peak I weighed 137kg, but (after the incident) I lost my appetite so I initially lost about 15kg, and in total lost about 40kg," surprising everyone.
In particular, he reported that he had become a wreck relying on more than 20 pills a day, saying, "In the morning I take about six pills to help me sleep, and in the evening I take about 14 to 15 pills," because of anxiety symptoms and sleep problems.
But the biggest shock was the condition of his son Jun-hee, a first-year high school student. Jun-hee said, "I found it hard to go to school, so after discussing it with my parents I ultimately took a leave of absence." The decisive factor in taking a leave was the sharp stares and ridicule from those around him.
Jun-hee confessed, "After my father's incident, problematic students showed up and said things like, 'I heard your dad is like this.' People around me also looked at me with disapproval... In the end I quit basketball and decided to take a leave of absence."
As a result, Jun-hee suffered from insomnia, breathing difficulties and nightmares, and ultimately had to receive psychiatric inpatient treatment. Hyun Joo-yeop lowered his head as he revealed that Jun-hee had been hospitalized four times. In the interview Jun-hee confessed, "I even had truly bad thoughts," shocking those present. Because he had many bad thoughts, it ultimately led to four rounds of hospitalization.
