Actor Seon Woo-yong-yeo said she built a Korean-style temple in Hawaii through fundraising.
On the 14th, the YouTube channel 'Sunpoong Obstetrics and Gynecology' uploaded a video titled "Emergency! Mother and daughter fight and grandsons cut ties on Seon Woo-yong-yeo's large family trip (tears and reconciliation)."
That day Seon Woo-yong-yeo visited Muryangsa in Hawaii with her son, daughter and grandsons. "Muryangsa" is a Korean-style temple that Seon Woo-yong-yeo raised funds to build since her 20s, notable for its roof being cut off.
Seon Woo-yong-yeo recalled, "As far as I know, I think I came when this was being built; long ago there was only this building," and said, "I was here from the very first time I dug with a shovel."
Seeing how much had been built in 40 years, Seon Woo-yong-yeo said, "It's amazing. This is my first time coming since then."
She also drew attention by asking a temple official, "Did you fight to build this?" It turned out the roof had been cut because of Hawaii's height restrictions. The official replied, "So we couldn't raise the roof all the way to the top."
In particular, Seon Woo-yong-yeo revealed the behind-the-scenes of the fundraising, saying, "(The first chief monk) Daewon worked very hard. He started by selling kimchi. After receiving donations, he met me and brought all the wealthy housewives from Seoul. So they held dinner parties and started fundraising there."
As she looked around the completed temple, Seon Woo-yong-yeo said, "It's remarkable that there's a temple like this in Hawaii," and her son marveled, "Because you helped with this, mom."
