Park Na-rae, who suspended activities amid allegations of power harassment toward managers and controversy over illegal medical procedures through an injecting aunt, had a past interview reported, and Park Na-rae's explanation instead rubbed working people the wrong way.
According to a report by Ilgan Sports on the 14th, Park Na-rae opened up about wage arrears and delays in payment of personal expenses while explaining the recent allegations of power harassment toward managers.
That day Park Na-rae, about the managers' claims of workplace harassment, said "It will be revealed later but I can explain everything. However, if I say one thing, the other side brings up another issue, so I didn't want to escalate the fight further," and added, "If there was workplace harassment, I think I should accept responsibility whether by paying money, kneeling and apologizing, or writing a public apology."
She continued, "That is something that should obviously be done. But they talk as if it happened even though it didn't," and said, "The alleged special injury is also not true. I did point out when props and such were not properly prepared. If that qualifies as workplace harassment, I can sincerely kneel and apologize for that part."
When asked whether there were wage arrears and delays in payment of personal expenses to former managers, Park Na-rae said "there were none," and explained, "Since it's a one-person agency, I paid the salaries directly. When salary payment times coincided with overnight shoots or group dinners with managers, there were cases when it was difficult to transfer money on the spot. But when salaries came up, I calculated monthly and deposited them the next day."
At the same time, the KakaoTalk messages between Park Na-rae and manager A, released by Dispatch, were re-examined. At the time the manager asked Park Na-rae, "Senior, yesterday was our payday; will it be deposited today?" and Park Na-rae replied 19 minutes later, "Yep!!".
After Park Na-rae's explanation was reported, public opinion was unified against her. Netizens reacted with comments such as "Should you have to beg to receive what you rightfully earned?", "Can't she just set up an automatic transfer?", "Being a day or two late is still wage arrears, yet she boldly says there were no arrears," "Don't you know what payday means," and "I'm really furious just thinking I was the one who experienced that."
Meanwhile, the former managers claimed they suffered power harassment by Park Na-rae, special injury, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical procedures, and nonpayment of production fees, and they announced plans to file a damages lawsuit and apply for a real estate provisional seizure worth 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court.
In response, Park Na-rae denied the former managers' claims and instead sued the managers for attempted extortion. The former managers also filed a complaint accusing Park Na-rae of embezzlement, saying she falsely registered an ex-boyfriend as an employee and transferred money under the pretense of wages, and they submitted complaints including special injury and defamation. Park Na-rae also filed additional embezzlement complaints against the former managers, and a police investigation is underway.
