'Show Me the Money 12' opens the curtain on an even fiercer rap war.
The first episode of Mnet's Show Me the Money 12, which will air on Thursday, Jan. 15, will reveal the show's trademark gym a cappella rap audition preliminary round. With a record-breaking turnout of about 36,000 applicants, attention is focused on who will seize the necklace of acceptance.
This season signals the dawn of an epic season as participants from 32 regions around the world launch a counterattack after preliminaries in Seoul, Gwangju, Busan and Jeju. Not only global talents such as Millie and Red Eye, but also contestants full of personality who transcend age and background will appear, delivering dopamine that will make it impossible to look away from the first broadcast.
Producers ZICO·Crush, GRAY·Loco, Jay Tong·Hurdy Shibaseki, Lil Moshpit·Park Jaebeom will each add tense twists with different judging criteria. In particular, a preview shows ZICO saying, "It gave me chills the first time I judged," heightening curiosity about the first broadcast.
The appearances of named rappers also draw attention. Kim Ha-on, who sparked conversation simply by announcing his appearance as the winner of 'High School Rapper 2,' and Flicky Bang, who drew attention in season 11 by creating "GangGangGang," have both signaled they will appear this season, raising expectations. A twist is also foreshadowed in which a famed rapper is shockingly eliminated, drawing intense interest in how the results will turn out.
The performances of rookie rappers who shake up the scene are another unmissable point. Producers even agreed that "this is a season where rookies stand out," increasing curiosity about what rap gems will be discovered at Show Me the Money, a factory of stars.
Meanwhile, Mnet's Show Me the Money, which has led the mainstreaming of hip-hop in Korea since its first broadcast in 2012, has reached its twelfth season. This Show Me the Money 12, in collaboration with leading domestic OTT platform TVING, promises an expanded scale. The joining of producers ZICO·Crush, GRAY·Loco, Jay Tong·Hurdy Shibaseki and Lil Moshpit·Park Jaebeom adds further anticipation for the main broadcast.
Show Me the Money 12 will premiere on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 9:20 p.m. on Mnet and TVING.
