A former manager identified as A, who is in a legal dispute with broadcaster Park Na-rae, has once again become the center of attention after sharing an update while staying in the United States.
A, who is currently staying in Las Vegas, recently changed their SNS profile picture. The flashy image shows heavy eyeliner, a red sleeveless outfit and sunglasses, and the photo is reported to have been uploaded at the end of last month.
A was reported to have previous experience staying in the United States, and the explanation followed that this trip abroad was also for the purpose of taking a rest for health reasons.
Before leaving the country, A responded to a police investigation. On Dec. 20, two days before departure, A appeared at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul and underwent an initial investigation as a respondent. Investigations are not usually conducted over the weekend, but it was reported that it was unavoidable because the departure schedule and the investigation schedule coincided.
However, the additional investigation and the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) inquiry that were scheduled afterward are not easy to coordinate because of A's stay abroad. Investigative agencies are expected to reschedule future dates considering A's return timing.
Park Na-rae's side previously filed a complaint against former managers on charges of attempted extortion and embezzlement in the course of duty, and the former managers are also countering by claiming workplace harassment and various damages. Park Na-rae halted all broadcasting activities after the controversy and withdrew from programs she had been appearing on.
A left for the United States on the night of Dec. 22 last year and has not returned to Korea to date. When A's SNS update became known, mixed reactions poured in online. Some internet users said, "Do they have the leisure to post SNS photos at a time like this," "Given the situation, it looks too frivolous," and "It looks as if they have forgotten they are in a legal dispute," expressing negative views.
On the other hand, many urged caution, saying, "If it is a health issue, rest may be necessary," "It is unreasonable to draw conclusions about the entire situation from a single SNS post," "The visible image and the actual circumstances can differ," and "Now is the time to wait for the investigation results rather than driving things emotionally."
Meanwhile, as both sides continue to make their claims public, the controversy appears to be entering a prolonged phase. Until the judgment of the police and related agencies is released, the matter is expected to continue amid sharply divided public opinion for the time being.<
