Singer Kang Daniel will enlist in February.
According to OSEN reporting on the 14th, Kang Daniel will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Army on Feb. 9. It will be his first military hiatus in nine years since debuting with Wanna One in 2017.
Kang Daniel has expressed calm and honest feelings about enlistment in interviews and broadcasts. In an interview related to the release of his fifth mini album in 2024, ACT, he said, "I plan to work hard until I do my military service. I have songs planned to be released before enlistment," and added, "There are things planned for after discharge."
Also, while appearing on the Cultwo Show, when asked about his feelings before enlistment he said, "I'm finally going," showing a relieved feeling, and recounted an anecdote, "I tried to go to the military early at 19 by dropping out of high school and taking the qualifying exam, but I was rejected because there were many applicants."
After releasing a special album in December last year, Kang Daniel held a fan concert, 2025 KANGDANIEL FAN CONCERT [RUNWAY : WALK TO DANIEL], and met fans one last time before enlistment. He is expected to enlist after participating in some of Wanna One's reality filming.
Earlier, it was reported that Wanna One would reunite for a reality show after seven years, which drew attention. Responding to fans' questions about this, Kang Daniel answered, "I'm going to study abroad next year, so I will probably do something like the intro," likening his enlistment to studying abroad and drawing attention.
Meanwhile, Kang Daniel debuted as a member of Wanna One through Mnet's audition program Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017 and received intense love. After debuting as a solo singer in July 2019, he has been active not only as a singer but also as an MC on various programs.
